Ronan Lee is a strong community representative with a passionate commitment to protecting our environment. As Queensland’s first Greens MP Ronan gives our local community the strongest, greenest voice in Parliament. Delivering better local public transport and tackling traffic congestion are high on his list of priorities.

Ronan is a regular public transport user and passionate advocate for more train and bus services, better commuter parking and extending the NightLink bus service to include Thursday nights.

A hard worker, Ronan has built a reputation as a local member who doesn’t compromise when it comes to getting the best for his electorate and has achieved a lot locally including a major upgrade of Indooroopilly Railway Station, a new fire station and fire engine for Taringa, a new local Breast Screen clinic and more safe cycle paths.

Ronan is a passionate advocate for protecting the environment. He delivered funds to create the Oxley Creek Common and championed laws to protect Queensland’s wilderness rivers and to end broadscale tree clearing.

Ronan grew up in the small Irish farming village of Ballyjamesduff, near the Irish border and since migrating to Australia in 1989 has lived and worked in Brisbane. He was elected to the Queensland Parliament in 2001 at the age of 25 and represents one of the youngest and best educated communities in Queensland. He is now serving his third term as the Member for Indooroopilly.

He is an active member of the local community and has always shown a strong commitment to community development and social justice.

Ronan is the Patron and an active member of numerous local community and sporting clubs like Western Districts Community and Sporting Club, the Indooroopilly Outside School Hours Care Association, Taringa Rovers Soccer Club, the Tiger 11 Soccer Club and the Graceville Croquet Club. Ronan is the sponsor of competition days for local bowls clubs including the St Lucia, Graceville and Taylor Bridge Bowls Clubs.

Ronan is a strong advocate for the interests of young people and has worked hard to give young people a stronger voice in government, particularly on transport and youth justice matters. Between 2006 and 2008 Ronan was Parliamentary Secretary for various portfolios including Communities, Disability Services, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Seniors, Youth, Main Roads, Justice and Attorney-General.

Ronan has a Bachelor of Arts (with a major in Government) from the University of Queensland and his personal interests include cycle racing, kayaking, bushwalking, reading and watching live music.
